1. Describe the problem:
My friend and I, independently of each other, were discussing the same personal headache. Our grandmothers (elderly relatives) live separately and constantly face the same technical problems on their computers or phones: a social network "crashed" and they can't log back in, they accidentally installed a malicious browser extension, settings get messed up, drivers or Windows need to be reinstalled. They call us, their "tech-savvy" grandchildren. We drop everything, drive over, or try to explain over the phone that "click the right button" is a mission impossible. It's physically and often emotionally draining for us to be 24/7 tech support, and they have no one else to turn to except paid specialists. We need a "grandchild on demand," but not a human — an AI agent.
2. How often does the problem occur?
Regularly, about 1-2 times a month per elderly person. The problems are cyclical and predictable (lost authorization, accumulated junk, confused settings). Each such case is stressful for them and disrupts our plans.
3. What attempts have you made to solve the problem?
- Personal visit: This took half a day.
- Remote access (TeamViewer, AnyDesk): This worked while we lived nearby and could personally launch the program on their device. After moving away, it became not always possible — there's no one on their end to click "Allow connection," especially if there are internet connection issues (which periodically happen if grandma accidentally downloads some virus that breaks internet access).
- Hiring a technician: Cost ~$30-50 per visit (like with reinstalling Windows). This is expensive for simple but recurring problems and doesn't solve the issue of immediacy.
4. How much are you willing to pay for the solution?
We need an AI agent that works on-demand, with a one-time payment per successfully completed action. The main criterion is that the cost of the agent's service should be 2-3 times cheaper than calling a live technician (i.e., ~$10-15 for solving a typical problem). We are willing to pay this price for each individual task that the agent can solve autonomously, without our involvement.
