Online clothes shopping is a lottery. There's no accessible technology to see how an item will fit your body, especially in small stores. It's a pain for the buyer and a loss for the seller.

1. Describe the problem:

When I shop for clothes online, I have no confidence in my purchase. Product images are shown on professional models with perfect bodies, and I can't imagine how the same item will actually fit me. Even size charts don't help me visualize the fit, shape, or overall look.

Because of this, I often hesitate before buying or end up ordering clothes just to "try and see." In the end, the product looks very different on me, which leads to disappointment and returns.

The problem gets worse with small online stores or independent brands, where there are few images and no advanced try-on features. I'm forced to rely on luck.

As a buyer, this is frustrating and a waste of time. As someone who understands e-commerce, I see the huge losses this causes sellers due to high return rates and low conversion.

Overall, online fashion shopping still lacks a simple way for me to see how clothes would actually look on my body before purchasing.

2. How often does the problem occur?

Every time I shop on websites or in apps.

3. What attempts have you made to solve the problem?

  • I study all available product photos, zoom in, compare how the item looks on different models.
  • I read reviews and look for photos from real customers, hoping someone with a similar body type has posted one.
  • Sometimes I measure my existing clothes and try to match those measurements to the size chart — it's time-consuming and still inaccurate.
  • I've seen that major brands (Zara, ASOS) use AR try-on, but these technologies are unavailable in the vast majority of stores where I shop.
  • I've tried universal virtual try-on apps, but the result was too approximate and didn't provide the confidence needed to make a purchase.

Often, the outcome is the same: I order the product just to see it in real life, expecting to return it if it doesn't fit. Despite all efforts, the result remains uncertain. I feel like I'm guessing, not making a confident decision.

4. How much are you willing to pay for the solution?

As a customer, I wouldn't want to pay a separate high fee just for online try-on. But I'm willing to pay a small amount if it saves me time and avoids the hassle of returns.

For example, I'd agree to:

  • A small per-use fee ($0.50 – $1 per "try-on")
  • Or access to the feature as part of a paid membership (premium experience)

More realistically, I expect this feature to be implemented by the store or platform itself, as it directly benefits sellers by increasing conversion and reducing returns.
