The problem of discrimination, wage delays, and fear of firing/deportation among immigrant construction workers in the USA

1. Describe the problem:

I've been working in construction for three years now, and every day I face discrimination because of my immigrant status. My salary is noticeably lower than that of my American colleagues, even though I do the same work, often even more. There are cases where our pay is delayed, and we don't get proper insurance for injuries. Once I tried to complain, but I was afraid of deportation — everyone is afraid of losing their job and stays silent.

2. How often does the problem occur?

This is a constant situation not only for me but for all my immigrant acquaintances on the construction site.

3. What attempts have you made to solve the problem?

I've tried to seek support, read "Know Your Rights" in Spanish online — but employers still break the rules. Rights organizations advise reporting anonymously, but most people are afraid; everything happens within the work collective.

4. How much are you willing to pay for the solution?

If an anonymous service emerged where you could safely report violations and learn about your rights, I would share it with all my acquaintances and would pay a reasonable fixed fee per inquiry. The main thing is for the service to provide us with safety and support.
